For the past two weeks, my daughter's class has been learning nursery rhymes to learn about rhyming words. The lessons have definitely caught the interest of my daughter because now during car rides we have to play the "rhyming" game. Of course, many of her rhyming words are made up words, but we talk about that.
The other day she took the nursery rhyme discussion a bit further. She asked me if I knew how Humpty Dumpty fell off of the wall. Not knowing if she was going into verse two of the nursery rhyme (which I was not aware that there was even a verse 2), I told her I did not know how he fell off the wall. She responded, "Because he was feeding the birds with his toes." I thought she was joking, but she was dead serious. Apparently, one student asked the teacher why he fell off and that was her answer.
