This week the Beta Club at my school is doing a drive to collect items to put in care packages for soldiers. We have several names of people overseas in the military who have connections to the elementary school where I work so they'll get the packages. We were afraid that the boxes were going to be too small, so the kids voted on giving each grade level two boxes. We have to pay for the shipping, so they've fund raised the money to send the boxes. They've done very well and it looks like we'll be sending off some really great care packages.
Today Jack came down the hall with a package of cookies. He usually gets some money to get a snack or a drink after school. When I saw the cookies I thought he'd gotten a dollar out of my purse. I asked him where he'd gotten the cookies and he said, "Nana brought a big box of snacks to my room today."
Those "snacks" were for the soldiers, Jack felt horrible when he found out he was eating their snacks.
