My daughter Caroline has a very active imagination. Very often she will have conversations with members of our family and say things like, "When I was a baby duck..." or "When I was a baby squirrel I loved nuts!" Lately, she's been on a name kick. Often times she'll ask why we named her Caroline. We give the standard explanation, she's named after my mom Carol.
She recently began getting interested in cheerleading and drill team activities since we've started going to high school football games as a form of entertainment. We recently signed her up for cheerleading at our church through the Upward program. Her brother is going to play basketball, and she wasn't interested in that at all. She might change her mind still. However, the night we went to our evaluations, she got to decorate her bucket for cheerleading. This bucket will contain her pom poms and other paraphernalia required to successfully cheer.
She came over to me after she'd completed her bucket and asked me a question about what I was doing (I'd started helping people register because they were understaffed). When I asked how her bucket was coming she said it was fine. I asked her to show it to me, and when she did, I noticed her name wasn't on it. "Um, weren't you supposed to put your name on it?" I asked her. "Uh-huh," was her only reply. "But honey, your name isn't on it." "Yeah, I know. I don't like my name, so I changed it."
Yeah, okay there honey. Unfortunately, we still can't figure out what name she put on it.
