I've decided to post these websites of items I found that really work. The link above is for homemade laundry detergent (powder). I made some of it this past June, and I still have quite a bit left. In the directions, it says to grate the bar soap, but I found that using soap flakes works just as well plus you don't have to grate the soap like cheese. I found a "recipe" for liquid detergent that I'd like to try, but I'm going to use all of the powdered stuff first. Most of the ingredients I found at Wal-Mart or Kroger. Over the course of the year though, I've restocked on certain things as I find them on sale. The powdered detergent made for great Christmas gifts, especially those that I know that are in college or on a single income.
Give it a try, you might be surprised.
