Caroline vs Wild...Thanks Bear Grylls!

Since Jack has moved on to the Junior High, Caroline doesn't quite like going to the after school program at her elementary.  So she'll do one of two things...she'll go to the classroom of a friend who teaches there and wait for me, or she'll walk from her school to mine ( a distance of just one mile).  Well, today it was downright freezing (it was 30* at 3 o'clock), so she decided to go to the classroom.  She called to let me know where she was and I told her I would be there around 3:30 to get her.  No problem, she responded.

But, at 3:25 I began receiving lots of phone calls from her.  I was not in my classroom and had left my phone there.  When I checked voicemail I heard, "Hey mom.  It's Caroline.  Ummm, I went out to play on the playground and locked myself out of the school.  Can you hurry up and come get me?"  Great!

As I drove towards her school I called to check on her.  I soon learned that she had found a way back into the building.  When she got in the car she said, "Boy am I glad I watch Man vs Wild!"

She then proceeded to tell me that when she discovered that she was locked out of the building she thought to herself, "According to Mr. Grylls I'm supposed to get out of the wind." So she went to the Ga-Ga Ball pit and got in.  Then she pressed herself up against the part of the pit where the wind was coming from that direction.  That way, the wall blocked the wind.  Then she heard some kids come out of the building and realized it was the Recycling Club so she grabbed all of her stuff and went in with them.

So thanks Bear Grylls!  My daughter didn't freeze on the playground of her elementary school because she got locked out.  And it's all because she's been watching you on Netflix.
