Yesterday morning, the kids were suffering from cabin fever bad. They'd been asking to go outside and play (on the grass because of the ice), so Jason and I figured why not. So I went into the den and told the kids that as long as they bundled up they could go outside. No sooner had I said that then Caroline shot out the front door and Jack shot out the back. I thought it rather odd that Jack would go out the back door, but I figured there was something in the garage that he wanted to get to take out front. What happened next was totally unexpected.
A few minutes after tearing out the back door, Jack came inside with a deer in the headlights look on his face and wet spots on his pants. I asked if he was okay and his response was a somewhat winded, "Yeah." He then followed up with, "Mom, we can't leave today. It's dangerous out there." "Yes, Jack," was my response. "That's why they closed school for the day, because it was hard to drive on ice."
"Yeah, I bet it is hard to drive," was his response. "Because it's hard to ride your bike too."
