He sends us a bill

Well, Halloween is over and the kids are looking forward to Thanksgiving. They're also looking forward to another holiday: Christmas. Like most families, we've had to cut way back on some of the things we used to do. The kids are quite used to going and doing lots of things, and so the cutbacks have really caught their attentions. It's hard to explain to a child about recessions and higher gas prices, but they seem to understand anyway with simple explanations. For example, not liking what I'd fixed for dinner one night, Jack asked why we couldn't just go out to eat. Jason explained we were saving for Christmas, and then we both realized the mistake. Jack and Caroline responded that we didn't have to pay for Christmas presents because Santa brought them. Jason very cleverly explained, "Well, technically we pay for Christmas. Santa makes all of the presents but after Christmas he send parents the bill. Because Santa has been hit hard with all of the higher prices of things." The kids seemed to get it and accept that explanation.
