As most of you know, Caroline is playing soccer again. We weren't too sure how she'd do since she's a) the only girl on the team and b) the oldest by far. The first practice didn't go too well, but we've noticed some things about her attitude since she last played soccer.
1) She's older (6 months older) and she's gone from a daycare to a preschool program in my district. She acts older. Verbally she's a little bit farther ahead than most children her age and she's smart as a whip. The other day she was at my father in law's and he was messing with her (as he usually does). She had monkeys on her pajamas and he told her that gorillas were a type of monkey. Disgusted she looked at him and said, "Gorillas are not monkeys they are apes. Monkeys have tails, and gorillas don't have tails. They're apes." This of course took Pa by surprise, and for the first time in a long time left him speechless.
2) She has more confidence in herself. She has gradually gained this confidence since being in school. She will be careful with her teammates, but goes for the ball against the other team.
3) She actually stayed on the field the whole time it was her turn. And if the ball didn't go in the goal, she kept going after it and not getting frustrated and leaving the field.
She actually likes soccer now. I hope she keeps it up. She's quite good right now.
