The Last Sweetheart Dance

Tonight was the last Sweetheart Dance for Caroline as an Adventure Guide. She started AGs the summer after Jason died. One of her friend's dad asked her to join.  The last two years Kevin has gone with her, but this year it was on a Thursday night and he was out of state. I think it was meant to be, and here's why.

The dance was held at the Richardson Women's Center in the reception hall. The same place Jason and I had our wedding reception.  So it was meant that she would go there with Pa. Plus, she accomplished her goal...she made Pa smile.

It was so sweet to watch her with Pa. My mother in law got her a real flower corsage and Pa had a boutonnière.  She said he taught her to dance "the real way", and danced with her the whole time. He walked her to the house, and then she walked him back out to the car. I heard her tell him she had fun, thanked him for going with her, and that she loved him a lot. I almost cried, it was so sweet. She'll remember this for a long time. I bet, so will he.
