Jason's love for history (especially World War II history) rubbed off on Jack. He is so interested in anything World War II. So today (after some discussion), we decided that Jason said "Hello, and I'm proud of you." today through a World War II veteran. According to Jack this is how it went down...
After Sunday School today, Jack went to the Shawver Welcome Center to wait at our designated spot for his sister and I to arrive. While he was waiting, a gentleman sat down next to him and started a conversation. According to Jack he said, "You look like a nice young man. How are you today?" Jack is very polite with other people and responded. They then got into a conversation about football because, according to the gentleman, "you look like a football player." Then the conversation turned when the man said he'd played football in high school, but slowed down the playing when the war started and he joined the military. Then it ceased after a mine exploded and took both of his legs. Jack asked questions about his time in the military and about his prosthetic legs and the man responded. All of which Jack ate up. When it was time for the gentleman to go into the church service, Jack got up and helped him to his feet. The man's parting words were, " Thank you young man for helping an old man up. Your parents must be proud of the young man you are."
Yep, that's my boy! Jack asked me if it was possible Jason had sent that message through the gentleman. Definitely! Thanks Jason, he needed the reminder that you're still here.
