Jason always took the kids shopping for my Mother's Day present. The Mother's Day after he passed away, a very good friend of mine took the kids shopping to get me a Mother's Day gift (Thanks Amy). This year, here's how it went down...
Two weeks before Mother's Day...Caroline gets with Grammy and arranges a shopping trip for the following weekend.
One week before Mother's Day...Caroline and Grammy go shopping for Mother's Day gift. Jack wants NOTHING to do with shopping. My Mother's Day gift is bought and wrapped (Dillard's Customer Service did an excellent job!). Now, Mother's Day gift is ready to go!
Day before Mother's Day...Jack looks at me with fear and says, "Mother's Day is tomorrow, right?" Yup.
Twelve hours before Mother's Day...Jack and Kevin go shopping for the makings of dinner (and it was yummy!) When Jack comes in he says with a most quizzical look, "Happy Mother's Day!" as he hands me a marigold plant. I then have to explain that his dad liked plants better because they'd grow and return the next year. Quizzical look fades and Jack murmurs, "Women!"
Needless to say, Jack's card was spot on, Caroline took pity on her brother and let him sign her card, Kevin got the sweetest card, and I'm really comfortable typing this in the pjs my daughter and Grammy bought one week before Mother's Day.
