My ironing movie

When I was younger, Sunday was my mom's ironing day. We'd go to church, come home and then she'd iron. My mom worked extremely hard during the wek, so the weekend was her cleaning day. My mom didn't make my sisters and I do chores when we were little, which can be seen as a good thing or a bad thing (my husband sometimes thinks it wasn't a good thing). I liked doing the outside chores when I got older - like mowing.

But I digress. On Sunday's we always knew it was ironing day when she would pull out the following items - ironing board, hangars, iron, and the ironing movie. Yes, she had an ironing movie. It was the same one every time she ironed. what movie you ask? The Secret of Nimh. I liked that movie - the first time I saw it. It got old after the 107th time it came on. But that was the movie my mom ironed to.

Now that I'm older and Jason and I are looking for ways to cut back and do things ourselves we've started doing some of his laundry at home and ironing. Today was my first foray into ironing in a long time. I used to iron when we were first married, but after the kids came along and Jason moved up in his profession I found I didn't have time so we started taking things to the cleaners. Jason started the ironing this morning as Caroline and I went to church, but I took over the last bit when I got home.

Like my mom, I have found my ironing movie. It is Mama Mia. Jason got that for me for Christmas and I have just now gotten around to watching it. It is a good movie, upbeat and moves along nicely. So my mom has The Secret of Nimh, and I have Mama Mia.
