Okay, so as you can tell I'm not really stoked about my birthday. I turned 37 at 10:01 a.m. today. I don't feel older and I'm not excited either. In one year I'll be celebrating my 20th high school reunion. Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of wonderful things to be happy about and I am.
1) I had a lot of people on my Facebook today wish me happy birthday.
2) My husband sang Happy Birthday to me when he woke up.
3) My kids sang Happy Birthday to me on the way to my in-laws this morning.
4) People at work wished me Happy Birthday.
5) My son said the only present he had for me this morning was a hug (which I said was the best present I could have).
6) I'll have my family party on Sunday, so I bet I'll get some kind of present then.
7) I"m loved by my family and friends.
8) Last night on a bike ride around the neighborhood (it didn't seem that cold when I got the bike out), my son sang a Happy Birthday - You're almost 37 years old song the whole way around the neighborhood. The lyrics were the same, but the tune changed.
So I know that I have a lot of things to be happy about, but this day finds me not really thrilled about my birthday. I guess because it's just like any other ordinary day except my husband is at home sick and has to go to the doctor at 1:00 p.m. My daughter has dance, and my son has basketball practice tonight. I don't have a faculty meeting after school (that's nice), but I have 2 kids serving a detention after school. Then I get to coach Jack's basketball practice since the coach is home sick. Which is fine, don't get me wrong, but I was hoping that tonight I could go to the gym and not have to worry about getting the kids picked up before the Kid's Club closed.
So other than the little fact that I turned 37 today, my Thursday is just like any other day.
