I sometimes hate change
The sixth grade where I teach is getting 2 new students tomorrow. That puts me at the cap for students and the other teacher is one short (27). I understand that some families have to move frequently, but it really throws off the rhythm of the class. That rhythm can be disrupted briefly and then continue in a calm way, or it can be thrown totally out of whack and doesn't recover the rest of the year. Last year I had the latter happen. So far this year, none of the additions to the grade level have been detrimental to the rhythm of the class. Because of that I'm fearing the new additions. Hopefully, there will be a slight hiccup in the rhythm, but it will calm down after a day or two.
