We've had to get creative with giving the kids their presents from Santa. My daughter is an interesting little girl in that she can be girly, but also be a tomboy. When it comes to clothes though, she's all girl (the more sparkles the better!). She loves nightgowns, dresses, and Disney princesses. Last year she wanted a nightgown, and I found a really good deal on Disney nightgowns at the Disney store. Of course they were somewhat elaborate, but that's what made Caroline LOVE them. She was quite skeptical however to learn that it came from Santa, who after all is a boy. So we told her that Mrs. Claus had made them. Caroline totally bought that.
So this year the tradition continued. Santa even left the kids a letter letting them know that they'd done very well this year. Of course, he knew there were bad days, but the good outnumbered the bad and that was good enough for him. In Caroline's letter, he told her that he'd let Mrs. Claus work on her gifts. Caroline though Mrs. Claus did an awesome job. She got her Easy Bake oven, her nightgowns, and several board games for family night.
Tonight, Caroline came in with some paper and said she wanted to write Santa and Mrs. Claus a thank you letter. Below is a copy of what she dictated for me. Santa's letter is first.
"Dear Santa, I love those things you said to me. You are really nice. I love you and Mrs. Claus very much. She was nice to make my presents. Thank you for my Easy Bake Oven. I love you because you love us. I love Mr. and Mrs. Claus because they love each other. Love, Caroline."
"Dear Mrs. Claus, You are the best one and I love you. I love you because you love Santa. Thank you for my Easy Bake Oven, toys, and my nightgowns. You are great. I love you and my mom, and my dad, and even my brother. I love you forever, and ever, and ever. Love, Caroline."
Happy Holidays everyone. I hope it was everything you wanted it to be and more. I also wish for you a happy New Year and a safe one at that.
