I'm so proud of Caroline today (Hint: I'm always proud of her), but today I am REALLY proud of her. One of the lessons I've tried to teach the kids is: If you want to try something, try it. One of two things will always happen: 1) It'll work out, 2) It won't work out. Either way, you know for sure.
Today, Caroline interviewed for a spot in the Visual Arts Magnet in our district. She's a really good artist for her age, and her brother had encouraged her to try for it. After a few weeks of working on her project and portrait, we went for her interview today. Bless her heart she was so nervous. She talked all the way home about the interview, and she had a great attitude.
Either way, she's won a victory. Self-doubt didn't win, and she'll always know she gave it her best and if she doesn't get in, then it was a difficult decision.
