Shhhhhh! We're hunting...Lightning Bugs!

The kids and I have started a little evening ritual. It won't last too much longer, but I'm enjoying it while I can. Each night the kids and I go lightning bug hunting. It's really walking around the neighborhood and seeing if we can be observant enough to spot lightning bugs. This time of the year it's really easy, and they're everywhere! Both kids have gotten really good at capturing one looking at it and then releasing it back into the grass or something. Tonight was the first night of our ritual where we didn't see a bunch. But I got some good pictures!

With Jack he's really good at being quiet, but Caroline is a different story. She doesn't have the quiet concept yet. So, it's nice and dark and cool and all of a sudden you hear Caroline, "HEY! THERE'S ONE!"

So I have to constantly remind her, "Shhhh, we're hunting lightning bugs. We don't want to scare them." Sometimes I feel like Elmer Fudd.
