A few months ago, our local phone company "upgraded" our Internet service. They tore up the entrance to our alley and upgraded the system. Of course, if you've kept up with my blog or Jason's you'd know what a cluster bomb that experience was.
Well, since then, on a regular basis, our phone service has been spotty at best. Every two-three weeks our phones won't work. We usually discover this when our family is like, 'Hey we called the house the other night and left a message. Did you get it?' So we'd call the phone company and they'd either fix it from where they were or they'd come out. Scheduling with them could be a nightmare. Well, our phones went out again last Thursday night. I called to set up an appointment and the only time they gave me was Monday (yesterday). I asked if they could call on Sunday to let me know if they needed the dogs to be inside and they told me, "No problem." I also explained to them that if this didn't fix it and in two weeks i had to call them to come fix it, I'd be calling them to cancel the phone service (I thought that this might be an extra incentive to get it right this time).
Last night at dinner, Jason asked me if the phone company had come by. No, was my answer because no one called my cell phone or his (I"d left both since our home phone wasn't working). So, I checked the home phone and nope, it didn't work. So I used my cell phone to call the voicemail to check the home phone. Sure enough, the technician called the home phone to leave a message to let me know that i needed to let the dogs inside so he could work.
This set Jason off, and I was in equal disbelief. So needless to say I called the phone company to cancel the order and my service. The poor operator was stunned into silence when I told her the technician had called my home phone to tell me he couldn't get into the back yard to fix the phone service. She finally said (more to herself I think than me), "Why on EARTH would he do that?"
My question exactly.
