A few nights ago, the family and I went to a local pizza place to support our school. During dinner, we saw a really cute high school girl with her boyfriend. Like I said, the girl was cute; however, I have no clue if the boyfriend was good looking or not. Why you ask? Is it because I'm already married to a really handsome guy, so why should I look? While, yes, I am married to a really handsome guy, no that is not the reason. The real reason is because I couldn't see his face. He had really long hair, not the grungy kind, the feminine kind that requires hair care products. The kind where you know the guy is way to interested in his hair than he should be, and requires him to "toss" his hair like a girl to get it out of his eyes.
Upon seeing this guy, I'm assuming it was a guy, Jason looked at Caroline and told her that her boyfriends were going to be clean cut. She said, "Like Jack?" Exactly. Jack's hair his clean cut and doesn't require him to toss his hair out of his face. I have several kids like this boyfriend in my class. It really bothers me when they come up to talk to me and I can't see their eyes.
Fast forward to last night. Jason and Jack had traveled ahead of Caroline and I to Abilene to visit with Jeff and his family. So, Caroline and I had some Mommy/daughter time. We had fun. We went shopping and out to dinner. During dinner, she kept looking at these high school kids like she was studying them. I told her not to stare because it was rude. She returned to eating and conversation with me, but I noticed she kept looking at the high school kids. Finally, she said, "Mom. Let me get this straight. According (it was actually Accoding she doesn't say her r's right now) Dad I can date him, but not him." As she said this, she pointed to one guy and then another of course one guy was clean cut, the other had hair in his face.
Start them early is our mantra.
