Tonight was family night for our school at a local pizza place. So we decided that we'd go and support our school. It also got quite chilly weather-wise, and rainy. We totally welcome the rain, but it's been in the 80's for the last week, so returning to 40's was a little hard to adjust to. It's not going to last, but still. While I was packing up today to leave school, Jack decided to go out and enjoy the rain. He had his windbreaker on and a bright yellow umbrella. He had fun, and stayed somewhat dry but his shoes got a little "squishy" and his pants were slightly wet. So when we got home he asked if he could go in and change shoes and pants so we could go out. When we pulled into the garage he hopped out and went inside. A few minutes later, he emerged and got into the car soon followed by his dad.
When we got to the restaurant, Jack popped out of the car and headed for the door. He held it open for us, and it was then that I noticed what he was wearing: His school shirt, warm up pants that were cut off below the knee, and his cowboy boots that his Aunt Kirsten had bought for him. It was very hard not to smile and giggle, because it was shocking to see him in that outfit (and okay to be out in public). I know what my family is thinking as they read this, but Jack is usually self conscious about what he looks like when he's out. I didn't give a care about colors, Jack HAS to look put together when he leaves the house --- including colors matching. So his thrown-together-I-don't-care-if-people-see-me outfit threw me off.
He's still wearing it, minus the cowboy boots. Oh well.
