Could the day get any worse?

It has been a hellacious week for me. The district did their benchmarks this week, and it's always a whip because the schedule gets off so the kids can take these tests and then that throws them off in their routine, which in turn creates some havoc. There ended up being an issue with my science tests that I can't explain and that apparently didn't sit well with administration. Nothing has been said since my uplifting meeting this morning, so I'm moving on from the incident. But still it was disheartening.

Then, the sixth grade went to the planetarium, and their behavior was so horrid, they were told that 4 year olds acted better that morning than they did. You would have thought these children had never been on a) a school bus or b) a field trip. I knew we were in for a doozy of a day with them when they would not stop talking during class. I have about 5 kids in detention on Monday because they wouldn't shut up. It was no better in the other classroom either, and I think on top of tutoring on Monday, she's got a room full as well.

To top off the day, Jack got on red and got to visit with the principal. It was a long story, and Jdhteach and I are going to have to have a pow-wow about what possibly is going on. Of course, because of all the crap that went on today I couldn't help but crying just a little bit upon hearing the news that he had been on red and had gone to the principal's office. This worried him somewhat, but I reassured him it wasn't because he'd been on red. Mommy had just had a bad day and this is how she relieves her stress sometimes. He promised to do better on Monday and gave me a hug and said, "Well, the good news is tomorrow's Saturday."

Damn straight! Thank goodness tomorrow's Saturday. I don't think I could have made it to the end of the week if this hadn't been the last day.
