Caroline went trick or treating this year without her brother. I went with her and had a blast. Jack decided he was going to hang out with his friends and hand out candy at their house, so that just left Caroline and I. She dressed up as Halloween Fairy, complete with tutu and a head band that Grammy made just for her. She borrowed my shoes, because hey! she's a size 8 now. Oi Vay! We started out around seven and hit the houses on our block, plus the houses on the street that ours dead ends into. After we went to one particular house, she came and asked me if she was too old to be doing this. HECK NO! was my response, because after all she's my baby. I don't want her to be too big for trick or treating! Apparently the older gentleman at the house she'd just gone to asked her if she was a little too old to be out trick or treating, and was surprised when she told him she was in third grade. He changed his tune and told her to have fun, but it got her wheels turning. I looked at her as I gave my answer and realized that she's gaining on me in height. She looks older than she is because she's a head taller than the kids in her class. This makes me glad to know that she's growing up confident about herself, but at the same time it makes me sad becasue she's growing up. Great Googlie Mooglie!
We rounded out the evening hitting the other houses of neighbors we knew and then headed over to Aunt Dana's. When we got home we hid her candy so her brother won't find it, but I have a feeling the candy will be moving quite a bit to stay ahead of him. Oh well, it'll go in the lunch boxes for dessert for about a month. She did say something funny tonight on the way to Aunt Dana's house. She said, "Look at all of this candy! It'll last me at least until November!" Well, that's good because November starts tomorrow.
Well, Halloween 2012 was a lot of fun! I can't wait for Halloween 2013.
